Walk in from the lookout car park and watch the reef carefully: bigger southwest swells can produce serious barrels, while the inside stays more manageable on smaller days.
East to northeast wind is the cleaner lane, mid tide is the best read, and the rocky bottom means you want a clean takeoff and a sure exit before committing.
The spot sits close enough to town to feel easy, but the reef and the barrels make it a real surf session rather than a casual sightseeing stop.
